A marchand fripier, or second-hand clothes seller, sold only previously-used clothing and fabrics of all kind, including sheets, wool, cloth, felt, leather, etc. The merchant could sell his wares from a shop or his home, or he could be an itinerant, or travelling, salesman, peddling clothing in the streets of towns and cities.
